Located in the historic heart of the municipality, the Church of San Miguel Arcángel is one of the oldest temples in La Palma. It was built in 1513 on the site of the island’s first hermitage, which Alonso Fernández de Lugo ordered to be built during the conquest. Its interior preserves a valuable artistic heritage, with a Flemish carving of the Archangel San Miguel and pieces of goldsmithery from the 16th and 17th centuries.
The temple has been renovated over the centuries, but maintains its original essence and continues to be the spiritual and cultural center of the municipality.
