Located at the mouth of the Barranco de Las Angustias ravine, the Port of Tazacorte is the maritime heart of the municipality and one of the most historic places on La Palma.
Here, in 1492, Alonso Fernández de Lugo landed during the conquest of the island, and centuries later, from this same point, sugar and bananas were exported, bringing prosperity to the town. Today, the port remains a meeting point between tradition and modernity, between the traditional seafaring life and tourism that seeks authenticity.
The Old Dock: living history of the sea

The Old Dock is the soul of the port. Built in the late 19th century, it was for decades the point of departure and arrival for goods and fishermen. Its stone structure and its surroundings, still preserved, evoke the essence of old Tazacorte: nets spread out, colorful boats, and the murmur of the Atlantic gently hitting the sea wall.
Today, the Old Dock is a perfect place to stroll, fish, or simply observe the horizon. From here, you can get some of the most iconic views of the municipality, with the cliffs of the ravine on one side and the black line of volcanic sand on the other.
As evening falls, it is common to see locals and visitors gathered to contemplate one of the most beautiful sunsets in La Palma, when the sun merges with the sea in orange and violet tones.
The Marina: the new heart of the port
A few meters from the original dock extends the Marina and Fishing Port, a symbol of modern Tazacorte. This space combines traditional fishing activity with a fully equipped marina, where recreational boats, yachts, and maritime excursion boats dock.
The whale watching routes and coastal excursions depart from here, allowing you to discover the beauty of the west coast of La Palma from the sea: the Cueva Bonita, the Porís de Candelaria, or the recent lava flows from the volcano.
The marina has a promenade, terraces, and viewpoints, and its relaxed atmosphere invites you to enjoy an outdoor meal or a drink at dusk, with the sound of the waves in the background.
