Playa del Mangón

This beach, also known as Playa Nueva or Playa del Charcón, represents the wildest side of Tazacorte. Located on the coastal stretch of Las Hoyas, it combines cliffs, lava flows, and small volcanic stone beaches.

Some areas may be temporarily closed or have restricted access due to the effects of the volcano, but when they are open, they offer one of the most impressive landscapes in western La Palma: the sea crashing on the black rock and the contrast of the banana plantations that extend almost to the water’s edge.

These are beaches to enjoy without haste, to listen to the sound of the Atlantic and feel the energy of the place. They do not have tourist services, but they do have a raw and powerful beauty that attracts hikers, photographers, and travelers looking for authenticity.

What to do in Playa del Mangón?

  • Walk along the coastal path and contemplate the views.
  • Observe the shapes created by the lava in contact with the sea.
  • Practice landscape and sunset photography.
  • Enjoy the silence and nature in its purest state.
